Classic Knorr Spinach Dip

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

Chances are that you’ve had this classic knorr spinach dip at some point in your life.

I only say that because it’s a super popular party dip.

And it makes total sense that it would be since it’s a make ahead appetizer served cold.

Those are two huge things I look for in a recipe that I plan on serving to a crowd.

I feel like once people started making this spinach dip the recipe spread like wild fire.

Ive personally made it for pretty much every get together that I’ve ever had. People just love it!

I’ve given this recipe out so many times that I lost track but the truth is that it’s not even my recipe in the first place.

Its right on the back of the Knorr Vegetable Mix packet.

Sometimes the best things are right under our noses the whole time and we didn’t even know it. Just like this gem of a recipe.

I do deviate from the recipe a bit. If I can be completely honest, I feel like this is the way it’s meant to be eaten.

Kind of a bold statement, I know, but I’m sticking to it.

This classic knorr spinach dip will be a family favorite and party staple in your home for sure.

Other great party appetizer ideas

If you like this Knorr Spinach Dip, you’ll also really love these appetizers for your next get together, too.

I Why I love this dip

My changes to the packet directions

I don’t add the water chestnuts or the sliced green onions. I feel like it throws the texture off.

The dip is so smooth and creamy without those two things. I find it’s so much better in general without them.

I also let this sit in the fridge for a day or even two.

The dry soup packet really needs time to bloom in there. This is one you do not want to rush.

How to lower the calories

First I need you to know that I have absolutely no idea how many calories are actually in this dip.

That said, I still know how you can reduce them a little bit if calories are something that you’re watching.

We’re are a few ideas:

Let’s Talk About The Bread Bowl

So you don’t really need to serve this in the bread now but it looks super cute that way.

If you’re not into that, just place it in a nice serving dish and of course that’s okay.

But I’d you are using bread here are my thoughts on it.

I really think that rye bread is the best for this but get whatever you want.

It’s best to suit your taste so whatever can be scooped out can be used here.

Keep all the bread you pulled out from the inside and serve it with the spinach dip.

I’d recommend still getting crackers though. The rye pieces go fast and there will be plenty of dip still left.

Oh and don’t put the dip in the bread bowl too early. You have to keep it in its own bowl until it’s time to serve it. The bread can become soggy and that’s not good.

How to make this Knorr Spinach Dip its best

From making it so many times I have learned some do’s and don’ts on how to make this dip it’s best.

First, is make sure to thaw and drain the spinach as best you can. Get it as dry as possible before adding it to the other ingredients.

Second, make the dip a day or two ahead. Give it a stir every once and a while in the fridge to really make sure the flavors blend together well. That dry soup packet needs extra time to bloom.

Don’t add it to the bread bowl too soon. The bread will get soggy if you do. Make sure to place the spinach dip inside the bread as close to the time you’re going to serve it.

Classic Knorr spinach dip ingredients:

Instructions:

First, thaw and drain the spinach very well. Try to drain as much moisture out as you can.

Next, add the mayonnaise to a large bowl.

Now add the sour cream.

Then add the Knorr veggie mix packet

Now add the drained spinach.

Now stir everything together until it’s evenly combined.

Then cover the bowl and place it in the fridge over night. Feel free to take it our once or twice to give it a nice big stir to really get everything blended together.

Take it out of the fridge when it’s read to be served and stir it together one final time.

Then carve a hole out of the top of the bread and scoop out the center.

Save the scooped out inside to serve along side the dip.

Now fill the bread bowl with the knorr spinach dip.

Lastly, serve the dip cold or room temperature and enjoy.
