Simple Italian Tomato Sauce

Incredible simple Italian tomato sauce for pasta, pizza or whatever else. This is a great sauce base for many other sauces, too.

  • Medium Size Pot


  • 1/2 Chopped Onion
  • 2 Tbs Olive Oil
  • 2 28oz cans Tuttorosso Crushed Tomatoes
  • 4 Cloves Chopped Garlic
  • Salt
  • 2 Tbs Butter


  • In a medium size pot, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté
  • When the onion is just about soft, add the garlic and some Italian seasoning.
  • Cool for about 5 minutes stirring frequently.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes
  • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and more Italian seasoning
  • Turn the heat up and stir the sauce frequently until you see it just starting to bubble.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Stirring occasionally
  • Taste and reseason if needed.



If you’d like to add hot pepper flakes, do so when the onion is being cooked. Also, please use your own preference of seasoning amounts. We are all different in that department.
