Simple Italian Tomato Sauce

Incredible simple Italian tomato sauce for pasta, pizza or whatever else. This is a great sauce base for many other sauces, too.

  • Medium Size Pot


  • 1/2 Onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic, chopped
  • 2 Tbs Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbs Italian Seasoning
  • 2 Tbs Garlic Powder
  • 2 28oz cans Crushed Tomatoes
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbs Butter


  • In a medium size pot, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 4 minutes
  • When the onion is soft, add the garlic and half of the Italian seasoning.
  • Saute for about 3 minutes stirring frequently.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes
  • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and the rest of the Italian seasoning
  • Turn the heat up and stir the sauce frequently until you see it just starting to bubble.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Stirring occasionally
  • Taste and reseason with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and garlic powder if it needs it,
