Sausage Bread

Sausage bread is made with cooked sausage crumbles and cheese baked inside prepared pizza dough for an appetizer, snack or main course everyone will love.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Prepared Pizza Dough
  • Flour (enough to dust your surface)
  • 1 pound Sausage, ground
  • 2 tbs Olive Oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, miced
  • 5-6 slices Provolone Cheese
  • 5-6 slices Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Egg, Beaten
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbs Italian Seasoning (plus about 1 teaspoon to sprinkle on top)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and brown the sausage while breaking it into small pieces. Once browned, add the minced garlic, season with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning and cook for an additional minute. Drain if necessary.
  • Add the pizza dough to a clean, lightly floured surface and roll it out with a rolling pin into a rectangular shape.
  • Place the slices of provolone cheese onto the dough. Leave about half an inch open on the edges.
  • Place the mozzarella cheese down on top of the provolone.
  • Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly on top of the cheeses.
  • Then, jelly roll the dough up tucking the sides in as you go and carefully place the sausage bread, seam side down onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  • Brush the top of the bread with the beaten egg and sprinkle the top with 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning.
  • Place it into the oven for 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the bread is cooked through.
  • Finally, let the sausage bread rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
