Malibu Chicken Sandwiches are the no fuss recipe that your family will love made by baking crispy chicken patties with sliced ham and Swiss cheese then topped in a flavorful Malibu sauce.

I guarantee you that these Malibu chicken sandwiches are a recipe that you’ll be coming back to again and again. This is probably one of the easiest recipes that I’ve ever shared and truly one of my favorites. The chain restaurant Sizzler used to serve a dish called Malibu Chicken. It was breaded chicken breast topped with ham, Swiss cheese and dipped in a delicious “Malibu” sauce. This sandwich recipe is heavily inspired that Sizzler dish. With a bug shortcut, too.
Using premade chicken patties makes this recipe an absolute breeze to put together. I like to keep them in the freezer for when I need a quick and easy meal. It’s a no fuss, no fail dinner or lunch that I know I can be whipped up at any time.
Ingredients
Heres what you'll need to make these delicious chicken sandwiches. You can find the full ingredients list along with measurements and instructions on the recipe card below.
- Chicken Patties- The hearty base of the dish! These make this recipe so convenient to put together. I use Tyson Chicken Patties.
- Sliced Swiss Cheese- Brings a nutty, slightly sweet creaminess that melts beautifully over the chicken.
- Deli Ham- Brings a salty, smokey flavor.
- Dijon Mustard- Adds a sharp, tangy flavor that cuts through the richness of the mayonnaise. I used Grey Poupon for this.
- Yellow Mustard- Brings classic mustard flavor and acidity to the sauce. I use Frenchs.
- Mayonnaise- Creates a creamy base for the sauce. I love Dukes Mayonnaise for this.
- Honey- Adds just the right amount of sweetness to balance out the sauce.
- Brioche Buns- Adds a soft, buttery sweetness that elevates the whole meal. I love Natures Own for this.
Instructions
Heres how to make these awesome chicken sandwiches. You can find the full ingredients list along with instructions on the recipe card below.
First, place the chicken patties on a baking sheet and cook them according to the directions on the package. Turn the oven off. Place one piece of ham that’s been folded in half on top of each of the chicken patties followed by a slice of swiss cheese. Put the baking sheet back into the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
NOTE: The oven will be warm enough to melt the cheese perfectly while still holding its shape.

In the meantime, mix together the Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, mayonnaise and honey. Now, add the chicken patties to the bottom half of each bun. Finally, spread about 1 tbs of the Malibu sauce on top of each one and put the top bun on and enjoy.
NOTE: These can be served without the bun, too, if you'd like to skip it.

What Can I Serve This With?
These sandwiches go great with a simple side of fries or potato chips. A salad would be the perfect addition, too.
Storage
Let the sandwiches cool completely and place them into an air tight container. They will last in the fridge for up to three days.
