Pasta and peas or Pasta e Piselli is a traditional Italian dish made with frozen peas, toasted, buttery breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese served over pasta for a no fuss dinner that the whole family will love.
In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil together over medium high heat.
Add the chopped onion and garlic and season them with salt, pepper and 1 tbs of Italian seasoning. Sauté them for about 3 minutes or until the onions are soft.
Next, stir in the frozen peas and sauté them for about 3 minutes or until they have thawed and are bright green in color.
Sprinkle in the breadcrumbs and stir them in until they reach the consistency of wet sand. Let the breadcrumbs toast up in the pan for about 2-3 minutes.
Stir in the Parmesan cheese and season it with salt, pepper, garlic powder and the rest of the Italian seasoning.
Add the cooked pasta and toss it into the peas and toasted breadcrumbs.
Transfer the pasta to a serving dish, garnish with a little more Parmesan cheese and enjoy!
