This beef and broccoli is just like the takeout version but made fresh at home with thin slices of seasoned beef and broccoli in a flavorful sauce.

Beef And Broccoli

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

We order beef and broccoli from Chinese takeout a lot at my house.

My husband and I both love it and it’s almost always included in our order.

I was so happy when a friend of mine gave me this recipe years ago. It was so easy to make I almost couldn’t even believe it.

This dish was always something that I assumed was difficult to make and I’m exactly not sure why.

Maybe because I’m so used to making Italian and American food that the thought of trying to replicate a Chinese dish was intimidating to me.

Now I know that there was absolutely no good reason for my hesitation.

This is my go to recipe on days that we just don’t feel like ordering out. Which has become quite often in the past couple of years for one reason or another.

It’s great to have this recipe in my back pocket now. Even my kids, who are usually big chicken teriyaki fans, have really grown to enjoy it, too

I hope you give this recipe a try. If you do, I know you’ll love it just as much as my family and I do.

Beef And Broccoli Variations

I like this recipe made just the way it is, but here are some ways to change it up if you’d like to.

  • Beef- thinly sliced flank steak or top sirloin would work as a substitution for the skirt steak.
  • Broccoli- Fresh broccoli steamed in a little water or frozen broccoli florets in bags that can steam in the microwave are both ok to use for this recipe.
  • Sauce- Make the sauce thicker by adding more corn starch to it.
  • Serving- Serve this alone or over white or fried rice.
