Touchdown Dip
From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito
This touchdown dip is the perfect thing to serve at your next football game watch party.

I’ve heard some people refer to this recipe as “Rotel” or simply as “Cheese Dip”.
We call this “touchdown dip” because there hasn’t been a Super Bowl played where this dip wasn’t served in our house. It’s like a tradition over here at this point. A tradition that I happen to love.

As much as we love to eat this when the game is on, it’s a great appetizer to serve for pretty much any occasion like parties, holidays or just a simple snack on at home.
This recipe only calls for four ingredients, is super easy to make and is ready to serve in just 15 minutes, too.

The sausage, Velveeta, Rotel and green chilis all got together so well. Every bite is just packed with flavor.
We like to serve this with Tostitos scoops because they really allow you to get as much of this incredible dip into every chip.

Trust me, you’re going to want to get as much dip on to each chip. It’s that good!
I hope you give this recipe a try. If you do, I know you’ll love it just as much as my family and friends do.

Touchdown Dip Variations
I like this dip recipe made just the way it is, but here are some ways to change it up if you’d like to.

- Skillet- I like to use a cast-iron skillet for this recipe because it keeps the dip nice and hot. If you don’t have a cast-iron skillet or you don’t want to use one for whatever reason, any large skillet will do.
- Sausage- Breakfast sausage or mild, spicy or sweet Italian sausage would both work fine with this recipe.
- Velveeta- I know some people really hate the idea of using Velveeta. If this is you, you can substitute the Velveeta for softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Rotel- You can use any two varieties ?of Rotel that you’d like.
- Seasoning- This dip really doesn’t need to be seasoned because it’s super flavorful already but if you would like to add a little something extra to it, some salt and chili powder would be wonderful additions.
