Ingredients
Heres what you'll need to make this delicious chicken dinner. You can find the full ingredients list along with measurements and instructions on the recipe card below.
- Dijon Mustard- Adds sharpness and depth that keeps the sauce from being too sweet.
- Honey- Brings sweetness and balance to the sauce.
- Mayonnaise- Makes the sauce creamy.
- Lemon Juice- Brightens the sauce and cuts the richness.
- Thinly Sliced Chicken Breast- Cooks quickly and stays juicy while being pan fried.
- Eggs- Helps the coating sticks.
- Milk- Lightens the egg wash.
- Crushed Pretzels- Adds crunch and saltiness.
- Vegetable or Canola Oil- Perfect for trying and creates a crispy golden exterior.
- Salt- Enhances all the flavors.
- Pepper- Adds a mild heat and balance.
- Garlic Powder- Gives a subtle savory depth.
How To Make It
Here’s how to make this delicious dinner. You can find the full ingredients list along with instructions on the recipe card below.
First, season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to create the egg wash. Place the crushed pretzels in a separate shallow dish. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg wash, letting any excess drip off, then press firmly into the crushed pretzels to fully coat.
PRO TIP: Crush the pretzels finely but not to dust. You want a little texture for maximum crunch.

Now, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side, depending on thickness. Transfer to a wire rack to drain.
NOTE: You can drain the chicken cutlets on a paper towel lined plate, but the wire rack is better because it lets air circulate underneath, keeping the crust crispy.

Then, in a small bowl, mix together the Dijon mustard, honey, mayonnaise, and lemon juice until smooth. Drizzle the honey mustard sauce over the chicken and enjoy!

What Pretzels Work Best?
Classic salted pretzel twists or sticks work perfectly here. Avoid flavored pretzels. Plain ones are the best option here.
Can I Bake Them Instead Of Frying Them?
Yes, you can! Bake at 400°F on a wire rack over a baking sheet for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and cooked through.
Can I Make The Sauce Ahead Of Time?
The honey mustard sauce can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored in the fridge.
What Should I Serve This With?
This chicken would be wonderful served next to some rice or pasta and a simple vegetable like Frozen Roasted Green Beans.
Storage
Let the chicken cool completely and place it into a food safe air tight container. It will last in the fridge for up to three days.
