Try cherry or apple pie next time if you’d like to switch things up.
Do I have to use yellow cake mix?
No, you don’t have to use yellow cake mix for this recipe although I prefer it.
Feel free to swap the cake mix out for another flavor if you’d like.
Recipe tip for the butter
One of this recipes ingredients is cold butter. To get my butter cold, I just throw it into the freezer for a little bit.
Cold butter is so much easier to grate then refrigerated or room temperature butter.
It’s grated because nothing gives you those tiny pieces of butter better than a cheese grater can.
We need those little pieces for this recipe because we want the butter to melt evenly on top of the cake mix.
Otherwise the cobbler will have dry patches in the crust.
If you don’t have a cheese grater, you can always slice the butter into super thin pieces and lay them flat on top of the cake mix.
That will work too!
