They are super easy to make and pair wonderfully with pretty much any main dish that you can think of.
I've made this side dish for so many different occasions like Christmas and Thanksgiving. We've eaten this plenty of times at home for casual weekday dinners, too. It's so versatile that we get a lof of use out of this recipe.

The delicious flavor of these potatoes is truly noticeable with every bite. Boiling the potatoes in broth and infusing the butter with garlic and fresh herbs makes this recipe a real stand out.
I love how creamy the sour cream and heavy cream make them, too.

Whenever I've served these for holidays and parties especially, I always get lots of compliments from family and friends.

The Ultimate Mashed Potatoes Variations

I like this recipe for mashed potatoes made just the way it is but here are some ways to change it up if you'd like to.
- Potatoes-Yukon Gold or Russet Potatoes can both be used but I prefer Yukon Gold because I think they mash up the best.
- Broth- Chicken or vegetable broth can both be used for this recipe. If you prefer to use water, you can. It just keep in mind that It wont be as flavorful because the potatoes wont absorb the favor of the broth.
- Mashing- Use a traditional hand masher for a chunkier texture or a hand mixer for a much smoother result.
