This Applebee’s spinach and artichoke dip tastes just like the real thing made with spinach, artichoke hearts, plenty of cheese and just a few other simple ingredients.

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

This Applebee's spinach and artichoke dip is just about as close to the original as you can get. This has always been my favorite thing to order at the restaurant whenever I go there. Unfortunately, the location closet to me closed down not too long ago. So, I decided to give this recipe a whirl at home and, WOW. I couldn't even believe how incredible it was.Everything goes together so perfectly for just the right blend of all of the ingredients.

This is a phenomenal appetizer to make for parties or a casual afternoon at home. We've even served this for some holidays, too. Everyone loves a good spinach and artichoke dip, don't they? it's always a huge hit with our guests. My picky kids even like this one and thats saying a whole lot. I hope you give this recipe a try. If you do, I know you'll love it just as much as my family and friends do.

Ingredients

Heres everything you'll need to make this delicious dip. You can find the full ingredients list along with measurements and instructions on the recipe card below.

  • Alfredo Sauce- Adds lots of flavor and brings a smooth texture to the dip. I think Rao's has the best one.
  • Frozen Chopped Spinach- Bring a bight, fresh flavor and burst of color.
  • Artichoke Hearts- Adds texture and depth.
  • Fresh Garlic- Gives the dip that resturant style flavor.
  • Parmesan Cheese- Adds a slight nutty flavor and saltiness.
  • Mozzarella Cheese- Brings a mild flavor and ooey goey texture and holds everything together.
  • Garlic Powder- Adds an added layer of flavor evenly throughout.
  • Pepper- Cuts the richness of the dip.

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

First, in a large bowl, add all of the ingredients (reserving half of the shredded mozzarella cheese). Stir everything together until it's evenly combined and add it to an 8 x 8" baking dish.

PRO TIP: Be sure to shred the mozzarella cheese yourself and avoid the pre shredded stuff that comes in a bag. It will melt much better that way.

Next, sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella cheese evenly on top, cover it with foil and place it in the center rack of the oven for about 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the sides are hot and bubbly. Let it cool slightly, serve and enjoy!

PRO TIP: Pop it under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to get a really nice restaurant style finish.

What Can I Serve This With?

This dip goes perfectly with tortilla chips, crackers, breadsticks, celery and carrot sticks.

Can I Make This Dip Ahead Of Time?

Sure! Just assemble the dip, cover and place it into the fridge for up to 24 hours. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking.

Do I Have To Use Jarred Alfredo Sauce?

No, you don't have to use jarred Alfredo sauce if you'd prefer not to. I have a great recipe for it that you can use HERE or feel free to use your own. The jarred sauce is just very convenient and Rao's has a great one you can find HERE.

Storage

Let the dip cool completely and place it into an air tight container. It will last in the fridge for up to three days. This freezes well, too. Just place it into a freezer safe air tight container and it will last for up to three months.
