Easy Stromboli Recipe

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

I love making this easy Stromboli recipe.

Pizza dough baked around cheese and cold cuts? Sign me up!

This can be served warm or room temperate making it the perfect appetizer, lunch or snack.

It’s super easy so make, too. I can throw this together in no time and it’s done within 30 minutes.

I’d you’re never had Stromboli before, it’s kinda like a hot Italian combo without the lettuce and tomato.

Needless to say, it’s a recipe loved by most.

That’s why I like to make it so often. It’s fast, easy and always a hit.

Even my picky kids will eat this.

It’s also a nice alternative to deli sandwiches. I like to bring these to the beach, picnics and tailgates, too.

They’re so convenient.

I know if you make this easy Stromboli recipe that you’ll absolutely love it, too.

Easy Stromboli Recipe Variations

I love this recipe made exactly how it is, but here are some ways to change it up if you'd like to.

  • Dough- I get dough from my local pizza place for $2. Its so convenient and really cant beat that price. If you;d like to use your own pizza dough recipe, that would be great or just purchase some from your local pizzaria or grocery store.
  • Deli Meat- If you cant or don't want to get cold cuts from a local deli, thats fine. They wont be sliced as thin, and the pepperoni will most likely not be as big, but thats really not a problem. You can definitely use prepackaged cold cuts from the grocery store.
  • Cheese- Add a little shredded cheese to the top to add another layer of flavor. That cheese will crisp up as it bakes right into the top of the bread.

Other Easy Appetizer Ideas

If you like easy to make appetizers like this one, here are some others that I know you'll love, too.

  • Deli salami sliced thin
  • Deli pepperoni sliced thin
  • Deli Provolone cheese sliced thin

Then add a slightly overlapping layer of provolone cheese and ham.

Next, add the salami and pepperoni slices.

Now add another layer of provolone cheese.

After that, jelly roll the dough horizontally.

Now pinch the ends closed and tuck them under the dough.

Then place the the dough seem side down onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Next, make an egg wash by beating together one egg and a little bit of water.

Now brush the top with a thin layer of the egg wash.

Now using a sharp knife, make about 5 evenly spread out slits down the top of the bread for ventilation.

Then sprinkle the top with garlic powder, Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese.

After that, place it in a 400° oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked all the way through.

Finally, let it cool for about 15 minutes, slice into about 1 inch pieces and serve with warm marinara sauce on the side if you’d like. Enjoy!
