Classic Knorr spinach dip is made with a dry vegetable soup packet, mayonnaise, sour cream, and a couple other simple ingredients for the ultimate crowd pleasing appetizer.

Classic Knorr Spinach Dip

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

This classic Knorr spinach dip is a must have party recipe. My family has been making this for as long as I can remember and its always a huge hit.

My mother used to make this appetizer for every occasion when I was growing up. She would serve it in a nice big bread bowl and it always looked so impressive.

So not only is this dip absolutely delicious, but the presentation is amazing, too.

This is the perfect, crowd pleasing appetizer for any holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas. I've also made this for countless family get togethers and parties.

It really kind of is classic party food staple. Everyone just absolutely loves it. Even my picky kids cant wait to get their hands of this when they know it's on the menu.

Dips like this are super easy to put together and just a no brainier to make or take to any event. I've even made this durning Big Game watch parties and its one of the first things to go.

Another amazing thing about this recipe is that it needs to be made ahead and its served cold. One last thing for me to have to worry about preparing the day Im hosting a party.

This dip is just such an all around winner. If you haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet, do yourself a favor and make it.

I hope you give this recipe a try. If you do, I know you'll love it just as much as my family and I do.

Classic Knorr Spinach Dip Variations

I love this recipe exactly how the instructions say, but I do make some changes to the original Knorr Vegetable recipe on the back of the packet. Her those are along with some other variation suggestions.

  • Sour Cream- Instead of sour cream, pain greek yogurt can be used as a swap out.
  • Bread Bowl- Sourdough is usually my go to bread choice but pumpernickel is great, too. Anything that can be scooped out honestly would work. If you cant find bread to make a bowl out of, just serve this with some sliced cocktail bread or crackers like wheat thins.
  • Low Carb- Ditch the bread bowl completely and serve this spinach dip with carrot and celery sticks. Its awesome with sliced bell peppers, too.
  • Add Ins- The original Korr recipe calls for 8 oz water chestnuts (drained and chopped) and 3 chopped green onions to be added to the instructions below. The water chestnuts add a little crunch to the dip that many people enjoy.

Other Easy Dip Appetizers

If you like easy to make dip appetizers like this one, here are some other recipes that I know you'll love, too.

Classic Knorr spinach dip ingredients:

  • KNORR Vegetable Recipe Mix
  • Mayonnaise
  • Sour cream
  • Frozen Spinach, thawed and drained very well
  • Sourdough bread or Crackers for dipping

Instructions:

In a medium sized bowl, add the spinach, Knorr Vegetable Recipe Mix, Mayonnaise and Sour Cream.

Mix everything together until its very well combined.

Cover it and place the dip in the fridge overnight or for at least 2 hours to let the packet bloom and flavors combine.

Give the dip one big stir right before adding it to the bread bowl.

Cut off the top of the bread and scoop the inside out. Break the scooped out bread pieces into about one inch pieces and set them aside.

Add the spinach dip into the bread bowl. Serve cold and with the scooped out pieces. Enjoy!

This is an absolute staple at all my family gatherings. I love that you use an oval bread bowl!!

Tip - put an oversized piece of saran wrap over your bread bowl opening. Stuff dip as usual, trimming plastic once fully filled. The plastic cling keeps the bowl dry so that you can eventually tear the bowl into pieces to get the last of the dip. Takes about an hour or so with my big ass family, lol.

Have loved this dip for years. In fact my niece insists I bring it to our annual Christmas Eve family gathering every year. Now that I am into sourdough baking it is even better. One trick I learned is to use fresh spinach, finely chopped. A lot less messy and there are leftovers for quiche or omelets.

Great suggestion! I bet the fresh sour dough takes it to the next level, too!
