Cheese Sauce For Broccoli

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

This cheese sauce for broccoli will have your family asking for seconds for sure.

Even the pickiest eaters can’t resist this one.

My mom used to make this for my siblings and I all the time when we were kids.

I think it was the only way she could get us all to eat our vegetables and it worked like a charm.

Everyone loves cheese even if it is served on top of vegetables.

I make this for my own family now and they love it, too.

Now that I’m all grown up and an adult vegetables aren’t the dinner time enemy that I once believed they were.

I actually really enjoy eating them but a little cheese sure does make them even more delicious.

This is a recipe that the whole family will be happily eat. Give it a try and I know you’ll love it, too.

What broccoli should I use?

I used fresh broccoli florets for this recipe but you don’t necessarily have to.

Frozen broccoli would work well here, too.

Just steam it according to the directions on the back of the package and add the cheese sauce to it when done.

What can I serve this cheese sauce for broccoli with?

This is a great side dish recipe that can go with a variety of different things.

I like them with Lemon Pepper Chicken Thighs or Stovetop Stuffing Meatloaf and usually some kind of rice.

Feel free to serve this with whatever you’d like, though. It will be a hit!

Do I really have to shred the cheese myself?

Yes, absolutely!

This is the one thing that I’d really urge you not to take a shortcut on.

Pre-shredded bagged cheese has chemicals in it like cellulose.

This keeps the cheese from clumping but it also prevents it from melting properly.

Shred the cheese off the block and the cheese sauce will be much creamier.

I have just one question, is there a substitute for the salt, since I have high BP, I have to watch my salt intake?
