Crockpot, smothered chicken legs are such an easy and delicious dinner idea for a busy weeknight.

The meat is fall off the bone good and truly couldn’t be easier to put together.

Simple crockpot recipe recipes like this one are lifesavers for me on busy days when I’m running around with errands.

I can just toss everything in the crockpot and let it do the work for me. It doesn’t get any more simple than that.

This is truly one of those recipes that are impossible to screw up. It requires very little effort as well as cooking skills.

As long as you’ve got the chicken legs, water, and dry gravy packet the other seasoning is gonna be adjusted to suit your taste. So feel free to experiment and use whatever types of seasoning that you’d like. ?

My kids love when I serve them this chicken over a nice big plate of Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, but you can serve it with whatever you’d like.

We just love the mashed potatoes because it’s soaks up all that delicious gravy.

This chicken is so flavorful and delicious it’s sure to earn a permanent spot on your dinner menu rotation. ?

Crockpot Smothered Chicken Legs Variations

I like this recipe for smothered chicken legs made just the way it is, but here are some ways to change it up if you’d like to.

  • Chicken- bone in chicken thighs will be ok to use instead of chicken legs if you’d like to.
  • Seasoning- The seasoning is completely up to you. Feel free to use whatever blend of seasonings you’d prefer.

Crockpot Smothered Chicken Legs Ingredients

  • Chicken Legs
  • Water
  • Dry Gravy Packet
  • Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Onion powder and Paprika

Instructions

First, add the water to the crockpot and whisk in the gravy packet until it’s evenly combined.

Now, in a large bowl, add the chicken and seasonings.

Then, mix the seasoning into the chicken until it’s evenly coated on all sides.

Next, add the chicken legs to the crockpot side by side.

Now, turn the crockpot to low and set it for 6 hours.

Then, carefully remove the chicken thighs (the meat will be falling off the bone) and transfer them to a serving plate.

Finally, let them cool slightly, serve over Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes or with the side of your choice. Don’t forget to spoon some extra gravy over the chicken, too. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 5 Chicken Legs
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 packet Dry Brown Gravy Mix
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbs Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbs Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika

Instructions
 

  • Add the water to the crockpot and whisk in the gravy packet until it’s evenly combined.
  • In a large bowl, add the chicken and seasonings and mix the seasoning into the chicken until it’s evenly coated on all sides and place them into the crockpot side by side
  • Turn the crockpot to low and set it for 6 hours.
  • Carefully remove the chicken legs (the meat will be falling off the bone) and transfer them to a serving plate.
  • Let them cool slightly, serve over Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes or with the side of your choice. Don’t forget to spoon some extra gravy over the chicken, too. Enjoy!
