Fish filet sliders are a super delicious and easy to make recipe using breaded cod filets, American cheese and homemade tartar sauce in between toasted Hawaiian rolls.
From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

These fish filet sliders were even better than the inspiration behind and I whole heartedly mean that. I am a huge fan of the fish filet at McDonald’s. It’s been my favorite thing on the menu since as long as I can remember. Using frozen breaded cod fish filets made putting this sandwich together a breeze. You can use store bought tartar sauce to save some time. But using my Homemade Tartar Sauce was one of the main reasons why these sliders were so good.
They never have enough tartar sauce on the sandwiches at the restaurant. This gave me the ability to load as much of that sauce on as I wanted. I’m already thinking about the next time I’m going to make these. They were such a huge hit. I hope you give this recipe a try. If you do, I know you’ll love it just as much as my family and I do.
Ingredients
Here is everything you'll need to make these delicious sliders. You can find the full ingredients list along with measurements and instructions on the recipe card below.
- Kings Hawaiian Pre Sliced Slider Buns- The soft and pillowy base that holds everything together.
- Gorton’s Crunchy Panko Breadcrumbs Cod Filets- The convenient star of the show! These give the sliders that classic fish filet taste.
- American Cheese- Melts wonderfully and goes together perfectly with the fish.
- Tartar Sauce - My recipe for this is the BEST! It adds just the right amount of creaminess and tang.
- Melted Butter- Helps the buns toast up to a nice golden brown.
- Old Bay Seasoning- Enhances the fish and adds lost of flavors.
Instructions
Heres how to make these awesome fish filet sliders. You can find the full recipe and instructions on the recipe card below.
Preheat the oven to 375°
First, separate the pre sliced slider buns and place them onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Add a layer of American cheese slices down on the bottom buns.

Then, in a small bowl, stir together the Old Bay Seasoning and melted butter. Brush the melted butter onto the top half of the rolls. Now, place them into the center rack of the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the buns are lightly toasted.

Then, add the fish filets on top of the bottom part of the rolls with the American cheese. Spread the tartar sauce on evenly and place the top of the buns on top. Using a knife, cut to separate them. Serve warm and enjoy!!

What Type Of Fish Can I Use?
You can use any kind of mild white fish like cod, haddock, pallock or tilapia. You can grab frozen, breaded versions at your local grocery store and cook them according to the package directions.
Can I Make This Ahead Of Time?
Yes, well kind of. You can prepare the tartar sauce ahead of time. Its actually even better made a day ahead. The sliders can be assembled and cooked when you're ready to serve them.
Storage
Let the sliders cool completely and place them into an air tight container. They can last in the fridge for up to three days.
