Ingredients
Here’s everything you need to make this delicious dip. You can find the measurements and instructions on the recipe card below.
- Cream Cheese – Softened to room temperature so it mixes easily.
- Mayonnaise – Adds creaminess and helps loosen the cream cheese.
- Cheddar Cheese – Freshly shredded cheddar works especially well here.
- Scallions – Chopped for a mild onion flavor and a little freshness.
- Bacon – Cooked until crispy, then crumbled or finely diced.
- Slivered Almonds – Add the signature crunch to the dip.
- Salt, Pepper and Garlic powder- The perfect seasoning to enhance the flavors of the dip.
How To Make It
Heres how to make this amazing appetizer. You can find the full ingredients list along with instructions on the recipe card below.
- Add the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise to a large bowl and mix them together until they’re as smooth and incorporated as possible. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped scallions, cooked bacon and slivered almonds. Season with a little salt, pepper and garlic powder.

- Mix everything together until the ingredients are evenly combined. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. Garnish with bacon bits and green onions (optional), serve and enjoy!

Pro Tips
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing it with the mayonnaise. Cold cream cheese will be much harder to incorporate smoothly.
- Cook the bacon until it’s nice and crispy so it adds texture to the dip.
- If possible, shred the cheddar yourself. Freshly shredded cheese usually has a softer texture and blends into creamy dips better than packaged shredded cheese.
- Go easy on the salt at first because the bacon and cheddar already bring plenty of salty flavor.
- This dip is delicious right away, but letting it chill in the refrigerator gives the flavors some time to come together.
- If serving after refrigeration, let the dip sit at room temperature briefly so it softens and is easier to scoop.
Variations
- Cheese: Sharp cheddar adds lots of flavor, but mild cheddar, white cheddar or a combination of cheeses can also be used.
- Bacon: Regular or thick-cut bacon both work. Cook it until crispy and either crumble it or chop it into small pieces.
- Nuts: Slivered almonds are classic for Million Dollar Dip, but sliced almonds can work if that’s what you have.
- A Little Heat: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper flakes or some finely diced jalapeño for a spicy version.
What to Serve With It
Million Dollar Dip is thick and creamy, so sturdy dippers work best. Pita chips and bagel chips are especially good because they can hold plenty of dip without breaking.
You can also serve it with buttery crackers, pretzel crisps, tortilla chips or toasted baguette slices. For something lighter, try celery sticks, mini peppers or cucumber slices.
Can I make Million Dollar Dip ahead of time?
Yes! This is a great make ahead appetizer. Prepare it, cover it tightly and keep it refrigerated until you’re ready to serve.
Storage
Keep leftover Million Dollar Dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3–4 days. Because this dip contains cream cheese and mayonnaise, it shouldn’t be left sitting at room temperature for extended periods.
Give it a quick stir before serving leftovers. You can also let it sit out briefly to soften if it becomes too firm in the refrigerator.
