This simple Italian tomato sauce is the perfect staple sauce recipe. Please don’t pay too much attention to the word “simple” in the title. Simple absolutely doesn’t mean that it’s going to be bland. My mother taught me how to make this when I was just a little kid and Im so glad that she did. Its my favorite sauce and now I make it for my own family, too.
My favorite part about this recipe is that It can be ready to eat in just 30 minutes. Because the sauce is mores simple, you save time not waiting hours for all the flavors to blend together. This is a recipe you'll be coming back to again and again.

- Diced Onion
- Olive Oil- Adds richness and helps soften the onions and garlic.
- Crushed Garlic-Brings that classic savory depth.
- Canned Crushed Tomatoes- The base of the sauce. Its rich, slightly sweet and naturally acidic.
- Salt & Pepper- Enhances the flavors of the other ingredients.
- Garlic Powder -Adds a deeper, more evenly distributed garlic flavor in the sauce.
- Italian Seasoning- The perfect mix of herbs that brings that classic italian flavor.
How To Make It

First, in a medium size pot, heat the olive oil, add the onion and saute it for about 4 minutes or until the onions are soft stirring frequently. Add the garlic and Italian seasoning. Sauté for about 2 more minutes. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and Italian seasoning.

Now, turn the heat up until tiny bubbles just start to form then reduce the heat to low. Let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes stirring about once every 5 minutes. Reseason if needed and enjoy!

Storage
Let the sauce cool completely and place it into a food safe air tight container. It will last in the fridge for up to three days. This recipe freezes well, too. Just place it into a freezer safe air tight container and it will last for up to three months.
