Take store bought cookie dough to the next level with this chocolate chip cookie cast iron skillet.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Cast Iron Skillet

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

Have you tried one of these chocolate chip cookie cast iron skillets before?

They’re life changing!

It’s a big, warm, perfectly cooked chocolate chip cookie.

Ooey gooey in the center with a slightly crispy crust from the cast iron skillet.

Now imagine that drizzled in chocolate syrup with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

That’s straight up cookie heaven right there.

I’ve gotten this dessert out to eat so many times. Sometimes it’s referred to as a Pizookie.

Different names for the same thing. Cookie dough baked inside of a cast iron skillet.

But as straight forward as it seemed, I still thought I could make it even easier.

I figured why make the dough when I can just buy it premade?

That admittedly lazy idea turned out to be the best shortcut ever!

Just pop the chocolate chip cookie dough down and let the cast iron skillet do all the work for you.

This quick recipe is a family dessert favorite of ours. I’m sure if you try it, you’ll love it just as much, too.

What if I don’t have a cast iron skillet?

If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, consider getting one.

There are some really affordable option out there.

They are really great for cooking certain things. Like this cookie for example.

The cast iron skillet is an important part of this recipe.

They hold onto heat really well. It will not only crisp the edges nicely but the cookie will also continues cooking after the skillet is taken out of the oven.

In my opinion, cast iron is a must for this one.

Cookie dough & Ice Cream options:

The options for cookie dough and ice cream are only as limited to your imagination. Use whatever you'd like to.

There are so many delicious premade cookie dough flavors, Any one here would work wonderfully.

Mix and match any cookie dough flavor and ice cream that you can think of. This dessert can be made into so many variations.

How to make this chocolate chip cookie cast iron skillet even better:

There are a bunch of great ways to jazz this simple chocolate chip cookie skillet up.

First, you can always switch up the flavor of the cookie itself to whatever you want.

The same goes for the ice cream. Anything goes!

But those are the most obvious ways to make this even better. What about adding something to the center?

Like crumbled Oreo cookies, nuts, caramel, white chocolate or pretty much anything.

Just place down half the cookie dough, add the filling, and cover it with the rest of the cookie before you bake it.

Also, chocolate syrup is what I used but its just a suggestion. Peanut butter, caramel and strawberry are all great options to switch up, too.

Chocolate chip cookie cast iron skillet ingredients:

  • Butter
  • Preamade refrigerated cookie dough
  • Chocolate syrup/ ice cream (optional but highly recommended)

Instructions:

First, butter your cast iron skillet.

Now press the whole package of cooke dough down into the skillet.

Bake the cookie at 375 degrees for about minutes or until the sides are firm but the center is still soft.

Let it rest for about 7-10 minutes before serving, the cookie will continue to cook for a little after it’s taken out of the oven.

Finally, add chocolate syrup and ice cream to the top and enjoy!
