Ginny chicken is made with chicken cutlets, cheese, asparagus and gravy baked together for a super easy and impressive dinner.

Ginny’s Chicken

From the recipe collection of Tara Ippolito

Ginny’s chicken is a recipe that I’ve been hearing about for years.

It’s a dish made by Ginny, a family friend that’s absolutely incredible!

I have a series that I run on my social media platforms called “food with friends” where I visit the homes of people I know and they make me a recipe that they love.

I knew Ginny’s recipe needed to be a part of the series. So I headed over to her house to try it.

Let me tell you, this was right up my alley! It’s easy to make, looks impressive and is absolutely delicious.

I knew immediately that my audience was going to love it and I was right!

This particular episode of the series did so well and went viral on Tik Tok and Instagram, too.

Everybody just loves this chicken. I’ve made it serval times since the episode for my friends and family.

It’s that good. I know if you give this recipe a try that you’ll love it, too.

Fast. Simple. Delicious.

Did you know that I have a cookbook called Fast Simple Delicious?

It’s 60 no fuss no fail comfort food recipes perfect for busy weekday dinners.

What can I serve with Ginny’s Chicken?

I like to keep it simple and serve this chicken dish with a side of rice, pasta or potato.

You’ve already got the vegetable and protein covered in the recipe.

Here are some great recipes that would be great with this:

  • French onion rice
  • Vodka Sauce
  • Crispy smashed potatoes

What substitutions can I make?

I always say that recipes should be used as a guide and make them your own.

Normally, substituting things like the cheese and gravy flavor would be fine. I’d encourage you to customize it.

However, since this recipe was given to me, I really feel like it’s at its best when followed exactly.

Some guests that I’ve served this to have questioned the American cheese. They’re always surprised at that ingredient.

Then once they try it, they see why it’s used for this recipe. It’s so good!

So, if you’re thinking about making some substitutions, I’d highly suggest trying the recipe “as is” for the first time then feel free to to adjust accordingly.

Ginny’s Chicken Ingredients

  • Chicken breast (sliced on the thin side)
  • Steamed asparagus
  • Seasoned breadcrumbs
  • Butter
  • Minced garlic
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Chicken gravy
  • American cheese, white

Instructions

First, coat the chicken breast in seasoned breadcrumbs on both sides.

Now, in a large pan, melt the butter, add the garlic and bown the chicken on both sides.

Once the chicken breast is done, remove it from the pan and add them to a baking sheet.

Now add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese half a slice of American cheese to the top of each chicken breast.

Then top the cheese with 3 pieces of steamed asparagus.

Next, add another half of a slice of American cheese.

After that, in the same pan that you browned the chicken breast in, add the can of chicken gravy over medium high heat.

Then stir it into the butter and scrape the pan to lift up the breadcrumb bits.

Now spoon the gravy evenly over each piece of chicken.

Then place the chicken into the oven and bake it until the cheese is melted and the chicken is finished cooking all the way through.

Finally, serve warm and enjoy!

Thank you so much for the recipe, Ginny!!

Could you offer the name brand of the chicken gravy you used? What size jar? This looks really good so am looking forward to trying it. Thanks!

I don’t steam the asparagus because it will get over cooked and stringy. Just throw it right on the chicken before the oven. I also use provolone cheese instead of American and I think that’s a way better substitute. This is a delicious dish and my fiancé requests it often.

Left out the detail that you need to coat the chicken in an egg wash before coating with breading. I knew to do it, but beginners might neglect this crucial step and have a bad result.
