Skillet Nachos cover

I used to make my nachos all kinds of different ways. Once I started doing them on the stovetop in a skillet, all of my other methods just didn't do the trick.

This is my favorite way by far now. I haven't made them any other way since.

Do I have to use ground beef?

Nope. You don’t necessarily have to use ground beef for this nacho recipe.

You can use ground turkey or chicken if you’d prefer. Both of those options would work for this one.

What cheese can I use?

I like cheddar for this recipe but use whatever kind of cheese you’d like.

The choice is completely yours. You can always blend a couple together, too.

Just be sure to shred the cheese yourself no matter what you wind up going with.

Do I really have to shred the cheese myself?

Yes, absolutely! This is the one thing that I’d really urge you not to take a shortcut on.

Pre-shredded bagged cheese has chemicals in it like cellulose.

This keeps the cheese from clumping but it also prevents it from melting properly

Shred the cheese off the block. The nachos will be much creamier that way.

Can I make this spicy?

Yes, absolutely you can.

Try using spicy taco seasoning packets to season the ground beef.

You can always use hot salsa, too. That should do the trick.

Just be aware if you’re serving these at a party or for a crowd that some people may be sensitive to the heat.

Do the chips get soggy?

Yes and no.

These nachos need to be eaten pretty quickly. That’s the idea, anyway.

If you make them and eat them, they’re just fine.

You really don’t want these sitting around because they need to be eaten relatively quickly once the beef and cheese are poured over the chips.

They will get soggy if they don’t get eaten quickly.

But I promise you that shouldn’t be a problem.

What can I serve these skillet nachos with?

This recipe is great because it can be served as as a snack, for lunch, and even dinner.

Nachos are a meal all on their own. So if you’d like to serve them solo that would be completely acceptable.

Skillet Nacho Supreme

This recipe for skillet nachos is pretty basic and that’s totally fine. I love the simple things sometimes!
