How to Make It
Heres how to make this delicious dinner. You can find the full recipe along with ingredients and instructions on the recipe card below.
- Cut the boneless skinless chicken thighs into bite sized cubes. Add the chicken to a large bowl and toss it with flour until the pieces are lightly coated. Transfer the chicken to the Crockpot.

- In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauce, orange marmalade, barbecue sauce and ground ginger. Pour the sauce evenly over the chicken. Stir everything together until the chicken is completely coated.

- Cover and cook on HIGH for 3–4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender. Stir well before serving, garnish with sesame seeds (optional) and spoon the chicken and sauce over rice, if desired. Enjoy!

Pro Tips
- Use chicken thighs. Boneless skinless chicken thighs stay juicy and tender in the Crockpot and are less likely to dry out than chicken breasts.
- Cut the chicken evenly. Try to keep the pieces roughly the same size so they cook at the same rate.
- Don’t skip the flour. Besides coating the chicken, the flour helps the sauce thicken as it cooks.
- Give it a good stir before serving. The sauce will thicken around the chicken as it cooks, so stirring everything together at the end helps coat every piece.
Variations
- Add a little crushed red pepper or sriracha for some heat.
- Sprinkle sliced green onions over the top before serving.
- Garnish with sesame seeds for a restaurant-style finishing touch.
- Serve it over white rice, brown rice or fried rice.
What to Serve With It
This orange chicken is perfect served over steamed white rice with broccoli, green beans or your favorite stir fried vegetables on the side.
Egg rolls, vegetable fried rice or steamed dumplings would also make great additions if you want to turn it into a takeout-inspired dinner at home.
Storage & Reheating
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
Reheat individual portions in the microwave until warmed through. You can also reheat the chicken in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
If the sauce becomes too thick after refrigeration, add a small splash of water while reheating.
